APEC CENTRAL LIBRARY

ABSTRACT

  • The College Library was started in the year 1984, and also functioning in the Main Building of the college (Main Block).
  • Now it has been shifted to a spacious New Central Library Block with an area of 4000sq.m. It is a two-storied Building.
  • A Conference Hall, Audio-visual section, Reference Section, Language Lab.,Digital Library are in the first floor and Stacksections,
  • Circulation Section, Informal Reading Section, Book Bank Section and binding Section are in the Ground Floor. 
  • It consists of 48,265 volumes with 20,505 titles and 166 Periodicals it besides a holding of 2496 back volumes, On-line journals for IEEE & Science direct (AICTE – INDEST, NEW DELHI).
  • Books are classified and arranged according to the Universal Decimal

     Classification (UDC) scheme and Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules
    (AACR-II) for cataloguing of books.

LIBRARY AUTOMATION

  • Our Library services are automated with the standard Library Software package called CALIBLAN and modified with PALPAP AGENCY using VISUAL BASIC. The circulation system is fully computerized and the documents are BAR-CODED.  The LS 300
  • kbi/f Barcode scanner is used for charging and discharging the books. 
  • Cataloguing OF BOOKS under ANGLO-AMERICAN CATALOGUING RULES (AACR-II)
  • CLASSIFICATION under UNIVERSAL DECIMAL CLASSIFICATION (UDC)

BOOK PURCHASE PROCEDURE.

  • Getting list from HOD based on Staff recommendation.
  • Books purchase as per Anna University Syllabus.
  • Purchase through Exhibition or Booksellers.
READING HALL
  • Area of the Reading Hall        :   324 sq.m.
  • Total no. of  Seats available   : 108 
  • Daily Minimum 250 Students used the Reading Hall.
